The blower motor works to move air through the HVAC system. If the blower motor starts making noise when you turn the fan on there is a very good chance it is starting to go bad and will need to be replaced. If the motor is not turning at all the first thing you should do is check the fuses. The blower motor on the W is not quick or easy to replace but if you follow the instructions here it can be done, and you can save yourself a lot of money.

You will need to remove the mono-post wiper and motor before you can remove the blower motor. Please see our article on mono-post wiper motor replacement for additional assistance. When removing the wiper motor you will need to remove the foam section between the engine compartment and the cabin air filter box red arrow. Large Image Extra-Large Image. Unscrew these and carefully remove the piece. The foam and plastic can become very brittle over the years so work slowly and carefully. You will need to feed some of the wiring harness through the openings as you go. Then remove it from the engine compartment. With the wiper and motor removed you will be looking at the cabin air filter box.

Remove the evaporator sensor red arrow by pulling it out of its mount and setting it aside. Next remove the two air filters by folding down the clip on the lower left section of the box yellow arrow. The other clips are fixed and if you try and force them they will break.

Slide the bottom filter out first and then lower the top filter and slide it out like the other one. The blower motor is contained inside the plastic air box. The lid to the air box is held in place by several small metal clips red arrows.

Remove each clip by gently prying them away with a flathead screwdriver red arrow. Double check to make sure you have all the clips including the ones inside the box. You do not need to remove any of the Philips head screws. When all the clips are loose the top of the air box will lift off red arrow. The blower motor has two electrical connections and both wires are color coded for ease of installation red arrow. The motor is held in place by a single metal clip. Use a screwdriver and unclip the bracket from the rear of the air box green arrow. The motor is now free to be removed from the air box red arrow. You can take the motor to your work bench and clean and lubricate it. If you are removing the squirrel cages you will probably need to use a puller to get them off the spindles. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Start the car and turn the air conditioning on. Test the connector for power at the terminals in the connector using the voltmeter. If there is power, reinstall the connector to the resister.

If there is no power at the connector, there is a problem with the console on the dash, and the console should be replaced. Remove the wire connector that can be seen at the blower motor itself. Test this connector for power. If there is power at this connector, the blower motor is at fault and needs to be replaced. If there no power is found, the blower motor resister is the culprit and needs to be replaced. Not done this before, but if you really can't get it out with the steering column in the way you'll have to unbolt the steering column - which may allow you to move it far enough away. If you can't get it far enough away then it pulls out. But I'd be getting our friendly local Mercedes specialist mechanic to do that bit as no idea what you need to do to ensure it goes back in the same place.

Accept Learn more….The drive motor turns the belt that rotates the dryer drum. It also rotates the blower fan wheel to circulate air through the dryer drum. If the drive motor fails, the drum or blower wheel might struggle to rotate, or the drum may not turn at all.

The video below shows a gas dryer, but the repair is the same for electric. These directions work for replacing the drive motor in Kenmore, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Roper, Crosley and Estate dryers with a lint screen housing located in the top cabinet panel.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 2 screws that secure the lint screen housing to the top panel. To release the clips that lock the top of the dryer in place, push a putty knife under the lid near the left and right edges of the front of the dryer. Use a slot screwdriver to release the locking tab on the wire harness plug for the door switch. Disconnect the wire harness. Note the configuration of the belt on the idler pulley and the motor pulley before removing it—take a digital picture of it so you know how to reinstall it.

Push the idler pulley to the right to release tension on the drive belt. Pull the drive belt off of the idler pulley and the motor pulley. Use a slot screwdriver to pry out and release the mounting clamps on the front and rear sides of the drive motor. Remove the clamps and set them aside. Rotate the drive motor shaft clockwise the blower wheel is reverse threaded while holding the blower wheel stationary to loosen it. Remove the screws from the back panel, then remove the back panel from the dryer and set it aside.

Spin the blower wheel clockwise to remove it from the drive motor shaft. If the motor shaft turns with the blower wheel, hold the motor shaft stationary. Use a slot screwdriver to release the locking tab. Pull the wire harness out of the plug on the motor. Pull out the drive motor. Put the new motor into place and make sure the locator tab on the new motor is properly inserted into the slot on the front mounting bracket. Line up the wire harness plug in front of the connector on the motor.

Push it down and into place, making sure the locking tab engages. Thread the blower wheel back onto the motor shaft. Spin it counterclockwise to tighten it. Then use the wrenches to tighten the blower wheel on the motor shaft.

To avoid overtightening the blower wheel, turn the wrenches until they stop and then apply moderate force to tighten the blower wheel on the shaft.

Position the front and rear mounting clamps on the motor and snap them into place on the mounting bracket. Full control and operation of the fan has been restored and I have no reason at this juncture to believe that it won't continue to do so. I have added a quantity of WD40 to the assembly in the hope of staving off further problems of this type in the future.

You need to replace the female holder which the resistor connects to as well as that will be corroded as well and short out.

I've not found where to buy these yet. Wiring loom repair kit required. If your blower only works when turned to position 5 or 6 then this item has failed.

Very common on lots of cars. On Merc A class W Very easy to swop if you have 2 hands a brain and a T20 torx screwdriver. Unscrew plastic panel under drivers side dash, pull carpet away from centre console on drivers side.

See the loom, press clip on resistor and pull out. Swop over to new one. Insert back in hole, carpet back. Panel back. Job done. Arrived quickly, easy to fit into the car and worked. Would have preferred it to have been cheaper and for the replacement not to have been necessary. I proceeded to check all the fuses in the compartment located in the footwell of the drivers side, but every single fuse appears to be ok, I checked all of them because I couldn't find the guide and didn't know which one was for the blower. The next thing I had in my mind was to try and locate the blower motor to see if voltage was going to it ok and if there was some kind of inline fuse, I'm an electrician by trade so I do have a voltage tester for that purpose.

The only problem is after a good couple of hours searching I cannot find the blower motor for love or money??! I had a good search around under the bonnet, and pulled the carpet away in the footwell area on both sides but didn't have any luck atall.

Please can someone point me in the right direction as to where I should be looking, and what it looks like? Any pictures available would be great. Or any other ideas or pointers as to things I can check for this fault such as hidden fuses e.
