Datetimes are very frustrating to work with in Python, especially when dealing with different locales on different systems. This library exists to make the simple things much easier, while admitting that time is an illusion timezones doubly so.
Maya is mostly built around the headaches and use-cases around parsing datetime data from websites. Your support helps tremendously with sustainability of motivation, as Open Source is no longer part of my day job. In addition to timestamps, Maya also includes a wonderfully powerful MayaInterval class, which represents a range of time e.
With this class, you can perform a multitude of advanced calendar calculations with finesse and ease. From here, there are a number of methods available to you, which you can use to compare this event to another event. All these projects complement each other, and are friends.
Maya does do exactly what I need. I think these projects complement each-other, personally. Maya is great for parsing websites, and dealing with calendar events! In many ways, it's better than Maya for certain things. In some ways, in my opinion, it's not. I simply desire a sane API for datetimes that made sense to me for all the things I'd ever want to do—especially when dealing with timezone algebra. Arrow doesn't do all of the things I need but it does a lot more! Maya does do exactly what I need. I think these projects complement each-other, personally. The folding books are the products of professional scribes working under the patronage of deities such as the Tonsured Maize God and the Howler Monkey Gods. Most of the codices were destroyed by conquistadors and Catholic priests in the 16th century. The codices have been named for the cities where they eventually settled. The Dresden codex is generally considered the most important of the few that survive.
The paper was made from the inner bark of certain trees, the main being the wild fig tree or amate Ficus glabrata. The Maya developed their huun -paper around the 5th century, which is roughly the same time that the codex became predominant over the scroll in the Roman world.
Maya paper was more durable and a better writing surface than papyrus. Our knowledge of ancient Maya thought must represent only a tiny fraction of the whole picture, for of the thousands of books in which the full extent of their learning and ritual was recorded, only four have survived to modern times as though all that posterity knew of ourselves were to be based upon three prayer books and Pilgrim's Progress.
We found a large number of books in these characters and, as they contained nothing in which were not to be seen as superstition and lies of the devil, we burned them all, which they regretted to an amazing degree, and which caused them much affliction.
Such codices were the primary written records of Maya civilization, together with the many inscriptions on stone monuments and stelae that survived. Their range of subject matter in all likelihood embraced more topics than those recorded in stone and buildings, and was more like what is found on painted ceramics the so-called 'ceramic codex'. Alonso de Zorita wrote that in he saw numerous such books in the Guatemalan highlands that "recorded their history for more than eight hundred years back, and that were interpreted for me by very ancient Indians" Zorita A fourth codex that remained controversial until has been authenticated.
Recent research, which includes a study that used everything from X-rays to UV imaging and microscopic analysis, points to its authenticity. It is the most elaborate of the codices, and also a highly important specimen of Maya art. Many sections are ritualistic including so-called 'almanacs'others are of an astrological nature eclipsesthe Venus cycles. The codex is written on a long sheet of paper that is 'screen-folded' to make a book of 39 leaves, written on both sides.
It was probably written between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries. Exactly how the Dresden Codex ended up in Europe is not clear. Even though the last date entry in the book is from several centuries before its relocation, the book was likely used and added to until just before the conquerors took it. About 65 per cent of the pages in the Dresden Codex contain richly illustrated astronomical tables.GitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together.

The library's main goal is to replicate interpolation schemes found in Maya. While an interface is provided to Maya's animation curves, curve storage, serialization, etc. A python-based test suite is included to demonstrate how to use the library and ease validation against Maya. With the exception of cmake, which is used to ease building and deploying the library on different platforms, this library has no dependencies.
The library does not require Maya and will build with many compilers. If you would like to use the included test suite to validate the library generates the same answers as Mayayou should use a compiler that's compatible with the Maya version validating against.
Please consult the Maya documentation for details and guidance about which compiler to use. Once you've downloaded cmake on your machine and have confirmed it's on the system path, you should be set. Note that you should specify a Maya version you have installed on your machine in order to have the test suite properly configured.
In the below examples is used but valid values include alsoetc. Note: By default this library assumes you're using the same bit scheme to encode time used by Maya, in version up to Maya update 3.
For example, linux and OSX users would issue the command:. After building the library, you can copy the generated binaries and python test scripts to a directory of your choosing by running:. Load generated AnimXPlugin. To launch an automatic test suite that will generate random curves and iterate over all tangents, interpolation and infinity modes, use. Instead of loading the plugin, you can also use pydll.
